Green Tea Tropical Tea by Mighty Leaf
Ingredients: Green Tea, Natural Tropical Flavors, Natural Flavors, Marigold Petals, Pineapple Bits

I don’t drink tea, can’t stand the stuff, but this stuff smelled amazing when I brewed it up for my husband. They come in these mesh bags and are REAL tea leaves, like you might get from a specialty tea shop. My husband said it tasted really good and would give it a 4/5.

Naturals Sour Beans by YumEarth
Ingredients: Natural Sugar, Glucose Syrup (from tapioca, corn or rice), Starch (from tapioca, corn or rice), Modified Food Starch (from tapioca, corn or rice), Fumaric Acid (for sour), Tartaric Acid (for sour), Ascorbic Acid (for vitamin c), Natural Flavors, Acacia Gum, Purple Carrot Juice, Beta Carotene

Sour candies or gummies are not something I would normally purchased so this was new for me. I noticed first just how much sugar was in these things, insanely high and boy you can taste it. I also don’t understand why they call them “sour” beans, they aren’t sour at all! Everyone who tried these things agreed. In terms of taste, I wasn’t really a fan. The dark reddish ones weren’t terrible but the rest were just gross. 2/5.

Nut Crunch Snack Original by Bakery On Main
Ingredients: Cashews, Almonds, Gluten Free Oats, Pecans, Brown Rice, Brown Rice Syrup, Evaporated Cane Juice, Organic Honey, Walnuts, Tapioca, Maltodextrin, Expeller Pressed Canola Oil, Sea Salt, Natural Flavors, Corn Starch, Rice Bran Extract, Caramel Color.

These little things were interesting! Not too much sweetness and a yummy crunch. If you like granola you’d probably like these. I should have put them on yogurt or ice cream, but straight out the bag they were just as yummy! Some of the ingredients aren’t things I’d normally eat, but even still I give it a 4/5.

Kettle Popped Corn Chips by PopCorners
Ingredients: Yellow Corn, Sunflower Oil, Sugar, Sea Salt

I’m not a fan of popcorn, you guys know that but this doesn’t taste like popcorn. They are airy and crispy and just all around yummy. They aren’t high in salt or sugar (in my opinion) and they have a great flavor. I enjoyed them so much I used my points in the Love with Food store and got a free box of 40 little bags! My ONLY concern is it’s unclear if they are made with GMO free corn. I’m giving them 5/5 based on taste but after my free bags are gone I won’t be buying anymore. (If I had realized that before hand I wouldn’t have gotten them).

Sweet Chili Popped Corn Chips by PopCorners
Ingredients: Yellow Corn, Sunflower Oil, Sugar, Salt, Spices, Vinegar Powder (maltodextrin, white distilled vinegar), Onion and Garlic Powder, Paprika, Yeast Extract, Citric Acid, Oleoresin Paprika and Natural Flavor

With how good the kettle flavor was you’d think these would be better, however they’re not. Firstly, I HATE that it has yeast extract in it (another form of MSG), that being said the extract didn’t work. These had a strange after taste and were not yummy at all. Again, I also have gmo concerns. 2/5 – if you really wanna try these chips, I suggest the kettle corn flavor.

Superfood Almond YumbutterGO by Yumbutter
Ingredients: Low-Temp Roasted California Almonds, Organic Sunflower Seeds, Organic Chia Seeds, Organic Coconut Palm Sugar (Low-Glycemic), Organic Hemp Seeds, Organic Goji Powder, Organic Lucuma, Love

Surprisingly this is AMAZING! I’m not one for almond butter and I greatly dislike goji berries and hemp seeds, HOWEVER, it works in this. I’ve put it on ice cream, mixed with honey, put it on yogurt. It’s really good. My husband thinks it’s gross though, and I’ll admit it took a couple bites before I really got into it. Now I’m boarderline addicted and even ordered 4 more. 5/5

Geeze lots of ingreidents haha! (Yes I totally copied that from the luna bar website!). I told you in the video I hate these and I do, if I was to personally review these I’d give them a -5/5 they are so gross, they smell and taste like pine sol. I don’t understand how anyone could eat them. That being said, I enjoy the other Luna flavors so I’ll let my husband rate this one. He enjoyed these bars, but agreed the lemon was just WAY too strong. 3/5 from the hubs.

Wild Garden Snack Box by Ziyad Brothers
Ingredients: Hummus: Chick Peas, Sesame Paste, Water, Sea Salt, Natural Spices, Citric Acid

Quinoa Chips: Brown Rice Flour, Whole Grain Corn Flour, Flaxseed Meal, Potato Starch, White Rice Flour, Teff Flour, Quinoa Flour, Sugar, Vegetable, Canola, Corn, Sunflower, Safflower oil and Sea Salt.

I was excited to see these in my box. I have seen those hummus things in the local stores and always wondered what they tasted like. I am sad to report they’re horrible. The hummus is WAY too lemony and liquid. It has no thickness to it what so ever. The chip tasted stale and had no flavor. I saw some people review them as salty but honestly I didn’t get that at all. We threw the chips out and my husband ate one of the hummus. The second one is still in my fridge and hopefully he’ll eat it one day. 1/5

Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip “Lunch Munchers!” by Bart’s Bakery
Ingredients: Semi – Sweet Belgian Chocolate, Chocolate Liquer, Cocoa Butter, Soy Lecithin (emulsifier), Natural Flavor, Non – Fat Milk, B & J Proprietary Rice Flour Blend, Creamery Butter (American and Imported, French), Cane Sugar, Brown Cane Sugar, Whole Egg, Madagascar Vanilla, Baking Soda, Salt and Love

With a name like “The Best gluten-free chocolate chip cookies in the world” I think you’re setting yourself up to either be amazing or a let down. These are not the best gf cookies I’ve ever had, but they’re not terrible. The sweetness is very balanced and I WISH these were soft cookies, they are instead crispy. I give them a 4/5.

Pure Organic Coconut Water by Coco Libre
Ingredients: 100% organic coconut water from concentrate, natural flavors

I’m really confused why this company makes their product from concentrate. I would think that’s less cost effective and it’s not helping you honestly. This had an artificial nasty taste and I couldn’t drink this. I am an addict of coconut water, I’ve tried probably 50 different brands, this was the first I couldn’t drink. & natural flavors? Really… 1/5 here guys.

So that’s all my reviews, do you agree or disagree? Let me know what you think of these products. Remember I encourage you to try these products out even if I don’t like them myself.

All photos are taken from the Love With Food website and are ©LovewithFood so check out their website. I forgot to take photos of the products before tossing them away, oopsie!

Whole Foods & Hyvee Grocery Haul – 02/07/2015

So this week’s grocery haul video is a combination of two places. Hyvee, a local store from the Midwest, as well as Whole Foods market. I spent like $110 dollars, not totally sure and I can’t list the stuff I bought because in the confusion of construction I lost the receipts! Oops, sorry!

Quick & Easy Chocolate Pudding Recipe! – easy to make vegan

Quick & Easy Chocolate Pudding Recipe!

Prep time
Cook time
Total time

Quick, simple, and EASY homemade chocolate pudding is so good you'll NEVER buy the pudding pots again. I promise! This can be made vegan simply by replacing dairy milk with nondairy. I suggest coconut milk for a good rich flavor or almond milk for something a little more light.
Author:
Recipe type: Dessert
Cuisine: American
Serves: 4 servings
Ingredients
  • 2 cups milk
  • 100g or 3.5 ounces dark chocolate
  • 3 tablespoons sugar - you can use no sugar or you can use more, up to you!
  • 1 tablespoon potato starch + 1 tablespoon water mixed together
  • optional: salt and thick sugar for the toppings
Instructions
  1. Over medium high heat add your sugar and chocolate pieces into a pan. Make sure you break up the chocolate bar for quicker melting. Stir constantly with a whisk so it does not burn. Continue until all the sugar is dissolved and you don't hear "crunching" anymore.
  2. Slowly add in your milk, if it looks ugly don't worry. As the chocolate remelts it'll come together. Once it's all melted try your mixture. If you need to add more sugar now is the time to do it!
  3. When you have it sweetened to your liking and all the chocolate is mixed with the milk add in your starch a little at a time. If you add it all at once you might cause lumps.
  4. Keep in mind that if you are eating this hot you might need to add extra starch. If you are going to chill in the fridge the mixture will firm up so don't over thicken it.
  5. Divide the mixture into however many servings you want, you can make 4 good portions with this recipe.
  6. If you want to add the sugar and salt do that now. A little goes a long way with this so be careful.
  7. Chill in the fridge until firm and cold. This will take around 4 hours. Enjoy!
Notes
-If you are making this vegan or nondairy make sure the chocolate bar you used does not contain milk.
-Try to use at least 75% dark chocolate, I used 90% cocoa by Lindt.
-You can use cornstarch or tapioca instead of potato starch.
-Pro tip; use martini or wine glasses to make the pudding more elegant!

Homemade Cleaning Spray (cheap!)

This homemade cleaning spray is SUPER easy to make (did I use the word super enough in the video?! I was excited) not to mention dirty cheap! It uses strong alcohol and vinegar to cut the grim and remove the germs and the bad odors from nasty counter tops. Works great in the kitchen, bathroom, and really anywhere. See notes for more information.

Ingredients:

1 cup water
1 cup white vinegar
1 cup strong alcohol – vodka, everclear, moonshine, white lightning, etc
optional:
1/2 to 2 teaspoons essential oils like lemon
few drops dish soap

Directions:

Mix all ingredients in a quality spray bottle and lightly shake to combine. That’s it!

Note:  If you have an issue with using dish soap or oils then leave them out. I will do a video later showing how I clean my counters but this spray works great without it. That being said, I haven’t had an issue with soak residue or damage to counter tops. I have used this formula on different types of counters and it’s been successful.

Note: Research has told me that vodka might not be strong enough to kill germs like salmonella. Half of the internet says yes, half doesn’t. To be on the safe side I would suggest using something stronger such as white lightning or moonshine or everclear. Something above 80 proof. Vodka itself is around 80 proof but everclear is 190. So you can see how much stronger it is. The choice is up to you and both are extremely cost friendly.
